Dear Ms. Aydlett:
This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Micheal Kurth of this office on September 2 through November 16, 1992, regarding your commercial distribution of silicon sand and the potential of this sand to contain amounts of radioactive material which would be regulated by the NRC.
J At tiie conclusion of the inspecticis, the findings were discussed with you during a phone conversation on December 3, 1992.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
