REQUEST FOR APPROVAL TO IMPLEMENT PROVISION OF ASME CODE CASE N-481 FOR MILLSTONE 2 (TAC N0. 184246)
By letter dated August 7, 1992, Northeast Nuclear Energy Company requested approval for the implementation of the alternative rules of ASME Section XI Code Case N-481, dated March 5, 1990, entitled " Alternate Examination Requirements for Cast Austenitic Pump Castings,Section XI, Division 1."
The proposed subject Code Case is to be applied to Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2.
Code Case N-481 provides alternative rules for inspection of Reactor Coolant Pump casings required by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, Table IWB--2500-1, Examination Category B-L-1, Item B12.10.
ASME Code Case N-481 has been reviewed and found acceptable by the NRC and is included in Regulatory Guide 1.147, Revision 9 dated April 1992, and therefore is acceptable for Millstone 2.
