1993 NRC EROSION / CORROSION WORKSHOP We would like to invite you and members of your staff to participate in the 1993 NRC Erosion / Corrosion (EC) Workshop.

The workshop is scheduled.to be held in Region I at the Valley Forge Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center on February 9, 1993.

The objective of the workshop is to address current EC-issues by promoting industry, NRC, and research organization discussions in regard to EC in high energy, carbon steel piping systems.

The morning of the workshop is divided into a number'of talks by industry, NRC, and EPRI members relative to the implementation of EC programs by industry licensees.

The afternoon of the workshop will allow participants to attend one of three discussion groups (breakout sessions).

The breakout sessions cover _the following areas relative to implementation of EC monitoring programs: A) EC monitoring program scopes, including methods for selecting systems and components fcr inspection; B) practices for. inspecting carbon steel components; and C) methods of evaluating inspection data'and dispositioning results.

The discussion groups will present their findings to the collective -

workshop audience at the end of the breakout sessions.

Final concluding.

remarks will be made by industry and NRC members at the end of.the workshop program.

We request that you inform the Region I office of the estimated number of your staff who wish to attend the workshop at your earliest convenience after receipt of this letter, with an update of the number of participants provided' by January 20, 1993.

Also, please indicate the names of those attending the workshop and their personal preference for the afternoon discussion groups.

A-form is attached which may be used to ease your efforts.

Registration for the workshop will take place between 8-8:30 a.m.

The workshop will commence at 8:45 a.m.

The Sheraton is located at the corner of PA Rte. 363 and First Avenue in King of Prussia, PA. Rooms may be reserved in advance by calling the Sheraton at (215)337-2000.

For those participants arriving by plane, limo service to and from the Philadelphia airport may be arranged by calling Liberty Airport Limo in King of Prussia at (215)688-6898, or at the airport at (215)365-8414.

Taxi service in the King of Prussia area may be arranged by calling Norristown Yellow Cab at (215)277-1234, or Radnor Taxi at (215)688-6714.

A map of the Valley Forge - King of Prussia area is being attached for your convenience.

The phone numbers of additional area hotels are listed on the map.

Also attached are directions to the Sheraton Hotel from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate Rte. 76 (Schuylkill Expressway), and the Philadelphia Airport.

1.

Turnpike east: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) east to Exit No. 24, the Valley Forge Exit. Take the first right immediately after the toll booth, for PA Rte. 363. Follow Rte. 363 nonh (go under the Turnpike) until you hit First Avenue. The Sheraton will be on the corner.

2.

Turnpike west: Take the Pennsylvania Tumpike (1-276) west to Exit No. 24, the Valley Forge Exit. Follow the instructions, above, for Turnpike East until you reach the Sheraton.

NOTE: 'Ite Pennsylvania Turnpike is I-76 west of Exit No. 24, and I-276 east of Exit No. 24.

From the Schuylkill Exumssway G-76 west) and from the Philadelnhia Alroort:

1.

Schuylkill Exprm::way, I-76 west: Follow the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) to Exit No. 26N, for U.S. Rte. 202, north. Get into the farthest left lane after exiting onto Rte. 202, nonh, and make a left hand tum onto Gulph Mills Road (PA Rte. 363). Take Rte. 363 nonh until you reach the Sheraton on the corner of First Avenue: Rte 363 will proceed past the, King of Prussia Plaza, under the Expressway, past the Stouffers Restaurant, under the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and on up to the Sheraton.

2.

Philadelphia Airport: Follow the airpon signs until you reach I-95, south.

Proceed south on I-95 until you reach the Blue Route, I-476. Follow I-476-nonh (signs will say to Plymouth Meeting) until you get to Exit 6B for I-76, west. Exit onto I-76, going west to King of Prussia. Follow the directions above for Schuylkill Expressway, I-76 west, to get to the Sheraton.
