1993 NRC EROSION / CORROSION WORKSHOP We would like to invite you and members of your staff to participate in the 1993 NRC Erosion / Corrosion (EC) Workshop. The workshop is scheduled to be held in Region I at the Valley Forge Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center on February 9, 1993. The objective of the workshop is to address current EC issues by promoting industry, NRC, and research organization discussio:is in regard to EC in high energy, carbon steel piping systems. The morning of the workshop is divided into a number of talks by industry, NRC, and EFRI members relative to the implementation of EC programs by industry licensoes.

The afternoon of the workshop will allow participants to attend one of three discussion groups (breakout sessions). The breakout sessions cover the following areas relative to implementation of EC monitoring programs: A) EC monitoring program scopes, including methods for selecting systems and components for inspection; B) practices for inspecting carbon steel components; and C) methods of evaluating inspection data and dispositioning results. The discussion groups will present their findings to the collective workshop audience at the end of the breakout sessions. Final concluding remarks will be made by industry and NRC members at the end of the workshop program.

We request that you inform the Region I office of the estimated number of your staff who wish to attend the workshop at your earliest convenience after receipt of this letter, with an update of the number of participants provided by January 20, 1993. Also, please indicate the names of those attending the workshop and their personal preference for the-afternoon discussion groups. A form is attached which may be used to ease your efforts. 1. Turnpike east: Take the Pennsylvama Turnpike (I-76) east to Exit No. 24, the Valley Forge Exit.- Take the first right immediately after the toll booth, for PA Rt:. 363. Follow Rte. 363 north (go under the Turnpike) unni you hit First Avenue. He Sheraton will be on the corner.
2. Turnpike west: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (1276) west to Exit No. 24, the Valley Forge Exit. Follow the instruenons, above, for Turnpike East unni you reach the Sheraron.

NOTE: The Pennsylvama Turnpike is I-76 west of Exit No. 24, and I-276 east of Exit No. 24.

From the Schuylkill Exonm-v (T-76 weo) and from the Philadelnhia Alrnom

1. Schuylkill Expressway, I-76 west: Follow the Schuyikill Expressway 0-76) to Exit No. 26N, for U.S. Rte. 202, north. Get into the farthest left lane after exiting onto Rte. 202, north, and make a left hand turn onto Gulph Mills Road (PA Rte. 363). Take Rte. 363 north until you reaca the Sheraton on the corner of First Avenue: Rtc 363 will proceed past the King of Prussia Plaza.

2. Phibdelphia Auport: Follow the airport signs unal you reach I-95, south.

Proceed south on I-95 until you reach the Blue Route,1-476. Follow I-476 north (signs will say to Plymouth Meeting) until you get to Exit 6B for 1-76.
