Office of Inspection and Enforc ment RII: JNG Region II - SJite 2900 50-321 101 Marietta Street, NN I&E Balletin Atlanta, Georgia 30323 84-02 ATTErfrION:

Dr. J. Nelson Grace GEtifIf!EN By letters dated JJ1y 13, 1984 (NED-84-352) and February 8,

1985 (NED-85-043), Georgia Power Company provided canmitments for meeting the recuirements of I&E Balletin 84-02 (dated March 12, 1984).

This tulletin reqJested specific BWR licensee actions for resolvity generic concerns with General Electric Conpany (GE) Type IIFA relays.

The relay replacement sched11e outlined in NED-85-043 callal for coupletion of the program for both IIatch Units daring the refueling citages schedsled daring 1986.

Since the date of that mbmittal the Unit I refueling cutage schediles have been changed ruch that no a.itage is planned to conmence for that unit daring 1986.

The current schedsles call for the next Unit 1 cu tage to begin on Notember 29, 1985 and conclude in Jama ry, 1986.

FollowinJ that cutage the plant is not scheduled to stut down for refueling again until early 1987. That 1987 outage is the one that had been schediled for late 1986 when oar February 8,

1985 letter was rutnitted, and it is the mtage in which GPC had intended to complete the IIFA replacement program. 'Ihis letter simply revices the date for the OJtage and does not affect cur comitmnts.

'Ihe only change is in the anticipated refuelin) dates.

GPC has contirued to perform mnthly functional tents and virual intpections of the ruhject relays which have not yet undergone replacement, in accordance with the Iblietin recif rements.

These turivillances contirue to demonstrate that the IIatch IIFA relays show no appreciable signs of deterioration in either function or physical appearance.
