Subject:
Large Bore Pipe Hanger Sketches During an NRC inspection exit interview on November 29, 1984, Mr. P. Kaufman requested that Edison provide a de-scription of the plan for incorporating outstanding design information into hanger sketches for the large bore piping (2-1/2 inches in diameter or greater) in the Fermi 2 RHR building.
This letter provides the requested information.
The objective of incorporating outstanding design informa-tion into hanger sketches for the large bore piping in the RHR building is to assure that these sketches represent the as built status and to review the applicable design calcula-tions for consistency, simplification, and accuracy.
Attachment i lists the hanger sketches which will be updated as described below.
For the S&L designed large bore piping hangers in the Fermi 2 RHR building, the following is planned:
The Fermi 2 engineering procedures for drawing incor-poration will be revised and training on the revised procedures will be conducted.
Open change documents will be identified using the automated records management system.
S&L will be requested to provide originals of hanger sketches and calculation packages for these hangers.
Data in the S&L calculation packages will be arranged in a manner consistent with Edison in-house large bore piping hanger calculation packages.
All approved changes will be incorporated into the related hanger sketch.

1.
Division I piping systems 2.
Division II piping systems 3.
-Division I and II common piping systems A schedule will be prepared listing the stress report, ABM (As Built Mechanical document) and Division assign-ment.
Completion dates will be established and actual finish dates noted.
Twice a month a report will be issued to Nuclear Operations Management.
The completion date established for this task is June 24, 1985, based on beginning this work on January 2, 1985, using three engineers and two technicians 40 hours4.62963e-4 days <br />0.0111 hours <br />6.613757e-5 weeks <br />1.522e-5 months <br /> per week.
For the-remainder of the large bore Q.A. Level I hanger sketches designed by Edison /SWMI (Stone and Webster - Michi-gan) the following is planned:
The sketches with two or more change documents out-standing or with two or more ABM's outstanding will be updated.
The priority for updating the sketches will be:
1.
QA I Class 1 hangers.
2.
QA I Class 2-3 hangers.
This work is scheduled to be done after the S&L update, using some of the same personnel.
Project procedure 3.16, " Hanger Sketches", is being revised to assure that all large bore hanger sketches are updated whenever two or more design change documents are outstanding.
