Attachment PY-CEI/NRR-0301 L Comment 1:
Since CEI does not plan to utilize the UNI system to solidify Perry radwastes, the conclusions documented in Section 11.4 of the Perry SER (NUREG-0887) are no longer valid. There-fore, CEI is requested to submit information on the mobile system which will be used for this purpose, in sufficient detail to satisfy the acceptance criteria of Section 11.4 of the Standard Review Plan (NUREG-0880). The mobile system and CEI's Process Control Program will have to be approved by the NRC prior to solidification of any waste.
Response
CEI will utilize a mobile system for solidification of Perry radwaste. A detailed description of this system and the solidification process is provided in the "NUS Process Services Corporation Topical Report on Radwaste Solidif-ication System", PS-53-0378, Rev. O, which has been found to be acceptable for referencing in license applications by letter from NRC (Cecil 0. Thomas) to NUS (R. H. J. Powell),
dated May 30, 1985.
CEI's Process Control Program will be submitted under separate cover by August 10, 1985.
Comment 2:
CEI indicates that portions of the liquid radwaste system were declassified from Safety Class 3 to a non-safety class.
It is the staff's position that the liquid radwaste com-ponents should be Quality Group D as identified in Regulatory Guide 1.26, and should meet the requirements of Table 1 of Regulatory Guide 1.143.
CEI's response to the staff's position is requested.
Response
CEI's liquid radwaste system components do meet the Quality Group D criteria as identified in Regulatory Guide 1.26 and also the requirements of Table 1 of Regulatory Guide 1.143.
