In the Matter of 884NCH GEORGIA POWER COMPANY, et al.
(Vogtle Electric Generating PTant, Units 1 and 2), Docket Nos. 50-424 and 50-425 gET) JU
Dear Mr. Churchill:
This is in response to your letter of July 19, 1985 dealing with the setting of a hearing schedule. Applicants request that the hearing commence on November 19, 1985, in which Staff concurs, and Joint Intervenors seek to have the hearings begin in early 1986.
The Board finds that it is premature to set a schedule at this time. Too much remains unresolved to make that determination now. We are in the midst of deciding the Joint Intervenors' motion of July 5, 1985, proposing contentions on Applicants' offsite plans.
The matter is taking more time than it should because the parties have not furnished the information the issues require.
Applicants have filed motions for sumary disposition on most of the contentions in the proceeding and intend to submit additional motions on the remainder. As yet no responses have been received. We have no way of knowing at this time how long it will take to rule on the motions.
As soon as the Board can determine what is an appropriate date to start the hearing, we will notify the parties.
Very truly yours, Morton B. Margulies, fMairmari For The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board cc:
