Dear Mr. Haelsig:
In response to Mr. Ritchie's letter of June 4, 1985, the interim approval of certain Enviralloy high intergrity containers is extended to September 30, 1985.
This continuation of the interim approval is conditioned as follows:
A.
This interim approval is limited to a period beginning immediately and ending September 30, 1985, unless restriction D, below is applied.
B.
The gross weight of any EA50 container may not exceed 4,200 pounds the gross weight of any EA142 container may not exceed 10,000 pounds, and the gross weight of any EA190 container may not exceed 20,000 pounds.
C.
Testing and certification by the genreator must clearly indicate that the limitations stated on pages 5-53 through 5-55 of the Topical Report, "NuPac Enviralloy HIC, revision 0, 6/84", have been met.
D.
There will be an immediate recall and modification of containers in inventory and which do not contain radioactivity when a design enhancement is required as a result of the state and NRC Topical Report evaluation, now in progress.
E.
Each waste generator to be provided an Enviralloy container must be identified and approved in advance by the department.
F.
No new Enviralloy customers of NuDat will be approved by the department i
during this interim period. Current customers are: Arkansas Power and Light, Three Mile Island, Trojan, San Onofre, Northern States Power (Monticello), Iowa Electric (Duane Arnold), WPPSS (WNP-2), Northeast Untilities (Millstone), Chemsyn Science Lab, and 3M Corporation.
