Dear Mr. Chernoff:
Our office has completed its review of Project Interface Document (PID)
Nos.16-S-23,16-5-24, and 16-5-25 for the Ambrosia Lake, New Mexico, Uranium Hill Tallings Remedial Action Site submitted by letters dated August 19, 1992, and November 30, 1992. We agree that the changes are not Class I changes and NRC concurrence is not required.
The additional information submitted November 30, 1992, completes PID Nos. 16-S-23 and 16-S-24.
Thank you for supplying revised 11 inch by 17 inch drawings. You may want to note, however, that the 1-foot riprap and bedding layer stipulated in item No. 171 in PID No. 16-5-24 does not appear to have been incorporated into the revised drawings.
PID No.16-5-25 instructs that Monitor Well No. 799 be removed from the listing of wells to be retained and protected, as it was reportedly abandoned in June 1992. The well was not added to the listing of wells to be scaled.
If the well was abandoned by your contractor without proper sealing, it should be sealed in accordance with appropriate State of New Mexico requirements, if you have any questions, please contact Dawn L. Jacoby or Joel P. Grim of my staff at (303) 231-5800.
