STATUS OF FERMI 2 REVIEW (MAY 1, 1981) 1. Plant Status Plant is 85% complete. Ninety percent of the electrical cables have been pulled into place. 2. Environmental Review The DES was aoproved for printing on April 30, 1981. 3. Safets Review An updated itemized review schedule is attached. New items added since the last status (April 10) are: SEB-5, Masonry Walls; RSB-1 through RSB-17, non-TMI positions on reactor systems; PTRB-1, ATWS Emergency Procedures, and; NMSS-1, Physical Security Plan. The applicant presented its operations staffing plans to the Licensee Qualifications Branch in Bethesda on April 23rd. In addition, the scopes and schedules for completing several major review areas were discussed. Increased effort by the applicant is expected on Mark I containment, preservice inspection, environmental qualification, fire protection and the emergency plan meteorology model. The control room visit (HFEB-la) was completed this week at the plant. The ICSB drawing audit and plant visit is scheduled for next week in the DECO engineering offices and at the plant. Fire protection review at the plant is scheduled for the week of May lith. The NRR/IE management audit is scheduled for the week of May 18th in the corporate offices and at the plant. The PSB drawing audit and plant visit was rescheduled from the week of May 4th to the week of June 1st because of hicher priority work (SRP revision). The applicant has provided satisfactory effort in resolving several major areas including Fracture Toughness (GDC-51) in a meeting on April 24th, design structural margin in a meeting on April 28th, and seismic qualification in a submittal on April 10th, and the upgraded emergency plan on March 31st.
