Dear Conunissioners:
Lately attention has been called to conflicting reports by knowledgeable scientists concerning the safety factors at the Trojan Nuclear Facility. I live less than an hour away from this plant and am very concerned about this issue.
I question why Portland General Electric,The Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regu'aiety Conunission have not granted public adjudicatoiy hearings to mvertipp the ;,reblems at this failing plant. After all PGE has already a.unired tnat the steam generators are too expensive to repair therefore the four vear shut down plan. This of course implies there are serious problems.
W hs it the public not allowed to participate fully in this matter? After all,we are the rate paters. We are the ones who are impac1cd by the environmental and medic;J Jamages due to radioactive leaks and wastes.
There are many concerned citizens who have questions to ask and points to N m:, to bear 6n these issues. We do not like being treated '.ike our voices are of no acoam 111here is noihmg to hide, then why not have public hearings? Do s.c ha c a oemocracv?
