A. In ARTICLE I - STATEMENT OF WORK the following work is added in accordance with the contractor's proposal entitled " Seismological Investigation of the Earthquakes in the New Madrid Seismic Zone and Seismological Investigation of the Northeastern -
Extent of the New Madrid Seismic Zone," dated April 2,1985. Specifically, the ~
contractor shall continue to: - -
a) Continue the operation of, maintenance of and data analysis from the local networks. The direct product of this effort consists of quarterly seismic bulletins submitted to the NRC which provide earthquake seismic phase <
readings, earthquake locations, and operational status of the network.

- Contract No. NRC-04-81-195-03 Page 2 of 2 b) Continue to incorporate readings from nearby netwIrks supported by the U.S. NRC into our bulletins and data base in order to maintain a stable regional catalog of seismicity and to make the most complete catalog possible accessible to the-U.S. NRC.
c) Continue to use the seismic data so acquired to perform topical research of interest to both the site safety research and licensing activities of the NRC.
d) Complete supplementing the existing telemetered seismic network by the installation of a broadband, digital, high dynamic range system consisting of two field acquisition units. Each unit consists of three component, continuous data acquisition units. The purpose of'the system is to provide the seismic data required to learn more about the earthquake than just its location parameters. Precise focal depth, focal mechanism, .
and source parameters are to be determined. The system is designed for on scale recordings of larger earthquakes which cannot be so recorded on present instrumentation.
B. ARTICLE II - PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE is deleted in its entirety and a new ARTICLE II is added as follows:
" ARTICLE II - PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE The period of performance under this contract shall commence on September 30, 1981 and expire on September 29, 1986."
C. In ARTICLE III - CONSIDERATION the following changes are made:
(1) In ARTICLE III (A)(1) delete the amount "$570,000.00" and insert in lieu thereof the amount of "$720,000.00."
(2) In ARTICLE III (A)(2) delete the amount "$570,000.00" and
. insert "$720,000.00."
D.
Change the B&R No. 60-19-01-04 as stated in block no.12. " Accounting and Appropriation Data," is revised to read "B&R No. 601950". .
