Dear Mr. John Ahearne:
We are appsllad that the president of the General Public Utilities has asked the NRC to allow reopening procadures on unit one of the three mile island nuclear power plant before hearings tre aven com-s pleted.
In most situations, this would be considarad a selfish request of an exacutive asking a government agency to break the law at the expense of the public's health and walfare.
Unfortunately, the NRC has don. this before, when the venting of krypton gas was allowed without a public h-sring, which is required by law.
'ne would also lik-to state our disapproval of the requested dump-ing of 700,000 gallons of radioactive watar into the Sasquahann River.
The expense of proper disposal should not take priority, over public health and welfare.
Sincerely,
