10 CFR 50, Appendix J - Modification of Letdown and Refueling Cavity Purification Systems Gentlemen:
Maine Yankee has agreed to modify several plant systems to permit draining containment penetration lines and leak testing with air in accordance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix J.
With References (b) and (c), Maine Yan' ee committed to completing all system modifications during the Cycle 8/9 refueiing outage.
Modification of the Letdown and Refueling Cavity Purification systems cannot be performed during the Cycle 8/9 refueling outage due to the long lead time needed to procure safety class valves for these systems.
In the interim, the containment penetrations associated with these systems shall continue to be leak tested utilizing the same test method used in previous years.

Maine Yankee will complete modification of the Letdown and Refueling Cavity Purification systems during the Cycle 9/10 refueling outage.
