Dear Ms. Neweil:
This is in response to your letter dated March 9,1981 in which you requested, pursuant to'the Freedom of Information Act, copies of regulations, policies, maps, forms, etc. used by this agency concerning the definition of " commuting area" pursuant to Federal Personnel Manual Chapter 351-4-4.
Federal Personnel Manual (FPM) Chapter 351, Reduction in Force, defines
" commuting area" in the context of " competitive area." This agency has adopted both definitions; thus we have no regulations, etc., which provide further definitions or explanations.
We are enclosing the FPM definition to which you refer, and the two references which we made to it in our own Reduction in Force regulations.
This completes action on your request.
