DEC 161992 MEMORANDUM FOR:

Jack E. Rosenthal, Chief Reactor Operations Analysis Ilranch Division of Safety Programs Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data -

FROM:

Theodore C. Cintula Reactor Systems Section CE and GE Reactor Operations Analysis Branch Division of Safety Programs Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data

SUBJECT:

PROSPECTIVE TREND OF LOW RELIABILITY EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATORS Enclosed is a Technical Review Report on emergency diesel generators (EDGs) with less than a 95 percent yearly reliability to start and load run from 1988 through 1991. The raw data was provided by the Nuclear Management and Resources Council. We found that these low reliability EDGs subsequently improved to the industry average but were succeeded by a new group of low reliability EDGs yearly.
