STAFF REQUIREMENTS - PERIODIC MEETING WITH THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON. REICTOR SAFEGUARDS (ACRS), 1:30 P.M., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1992, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTM, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the Advisory Committee on Reactor 1
Safeguards (ACRS) on the following topics:
- 1. The status of ACRS review of advanced reactor designs, including design acceptance criteria (DAC) and inspections, tests, analyses, and acceptance criteria (ITAAC)
- 2. Digital control and protection systems
- 3. The transition to risk-based regulation
- 4. Implementation of the license renewal rule The Commission would like the ACRS to consider how the maintenance rule might be used as a means to address the activities required of licensees by the license renewal rule, such that the maintenance program would supplant the need for much of the component-by-component analysis expected in the license renewal rule, i
