The Commission was briefed by the Advisory Committee on Reactor 1
Safeguards (ACRS) on the following topics:
1.
The status of ACRS review of advanced reactor designs, including design acceptance criteria (DAC) and inspections, tests, analyses, and acceptance criteria (ITAAC) 2.
Digital control and protection systems 3.
The transition to risk-based regulation 4.
Implementation of the license renewal rule The Commission would like the ACRS to consider how the maintenance rule might be used as a means to address the activities required of licensees by the license renewal rule, such that the maintenance program would supplant the need for much of the component-by-component analysis expected in the license renewal rule, i
