Dear Sir:

The City staff has reviewed the emergency plan for the MURR which was revised October 16, 1992.

This letter will provide assurance that the city of Columbia Fire Department will respond to fires or other emergency situations should they occur at the research reactor.

Because of the potential for radiologic eyelits coinciding with a O

fire fighting situation, i understand that the research reactor U

staff will conduct training sessior.s at least every two years for Fire Department personnel, including MURR facility orientation and review of selected health physics procedures specific'to the MURR facility.

The Fire Department will participate in such training; however, the responsibility for maintaining and scheduling the subject training will remain with the MURR staff.

Very truly yours, N

Peymond A.
