REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING PROPERTY INSURANCE EXEMPTION REQUEST (TAC N0. M84579)

By letter dated September 28, 1992, Yankee Atomic Electric Company (YAEC) requested an exemption to 10 CFR 50.54(w) regarding property insurance for the _

Yankee Nuclear Power Station (plant). In order to complete our review of your request we need the following additional information:

Provide a description of all sources of stored radioactive fluids at the plant site and demonstrate either the integrity of the storage method or if the fluids were to escape from the storage vessel that-the proposed property insurance coverage would be adequate to cover recovery costs. in the demonstration of integrity, consider a component or system failure followed by an operator error.

We have previously discussed these concerns with members of the YAEC staff and as soon as a response is received we will continue with our review of your exemption request.

The reporting requirements contained in this letter affect only YAEC; therefore, OMB clearance is not required in accordance with P. L.96-511.
