EMERGENCY DRILL 2:00 P.M.
November 9, 1992 Objective:
To demonstrate the following:

Alternate Emergency Directors-can handle emergency situations; i
(2)
That the response of support organizations such as Georgia Tech
- Police, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Georgia Emergency 4
Management Agency to emergency conditions-is adequate; (3)
That procedures are adequate; (4)
That procedures are followed;
_(5)
That emergency communications are appropriate; (6)
Emergency - organization can restore. emergency situation back to-' normal.
i Scope:
The Emergency Drill of 1992 is structured.to test how the emergency organization of the Neely Nuclear i
Research Center responds to fire.
i Scenarios-A NNRC staff member is using a compactor-in the storage barn to reduce volume of solid waste before
- disposal.
The heat _of the compactor's compression ignites the waste.
The smoke overcomes _the staff-member.
(Actually the-staff member ignites a smoke 4
bomb and actuates-the smoke alarm 11n the ~ storage -
2 barn )
Procedures 6010, 6040,_.6090,'and 6100 are activated.-
