Dear Mr. Denise:
This letter provides Kansas Gas and Electric Conpany's (KG&E) response to your letter of February 19, 1985, which transmitted Inspection Report SrN 50-482/84-56. As requested, this response identifies the program that addresses the corrective action taken by KG&E to address the specific conments and the generic issues identified in the Inspection Report.
Inspector Followup Item 84/56-01:
The specific connents on procedures identified in the report have been reviewed by the Wolf Creek Staff. Those procedures required for Mode 6 have been revised to address the comments.
The remaining procedures have been classified by Mode restraint and will be revised prior to their required use.
All future procedure refinenents will incorporate the specific issues as well as the generic issues identified in this Inspection Report.
This will be acconplished during the review of conpleted procedures by the individual assigned the review function for each procedure type.
Procedure ADM 01-050, "WCGS Operational Phase Verification Program",
has been issued to identify operational phase verification activities.
This procedure provides the one direction which defines, on the station level, the requirements for independent verification.

o Mr. R.P. Denise March 7, 1985 KMIRRC 85-076 Inspector Followup Item 84/56-02:
Revision 5 to procedure ADM 02-021, "Use of Procedures in Operations", provides nore specific guidance on allowing the Shift Supervisor to "M/A" steps of a procedure prior to performance, without initiating a procedure change.
This Revision has been discussed with the Shift Supervisors during procedural requalification training to ensure that it provides clear and concise guidance.
A copy of Inspection Report 84/56 and this response will be routed to each Plant Staff Superintendent and all PSRC nenbers for required reading. Please contact me or Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff if you have any questions on this response.
