The purpose of this letter is to provide an updated response to Generic Letter 8913 for the Commonwealth Edison (CECO) Zion Nuclear Power Station. The referenced letters provided confirmation that CECO established arograms to implement recommended actions of the Generic Letter or that equally e"fective actions hao been pursued.

Reference (a provided the company response and reference (b) notified the NRC of programmati changes. This update i~'udes the Inspec' ion, cleaning or replacement of the Unit 0 (common to both units) and Unit i heat exchangers for Zion Station. The inspection, or testing and cleaning, or replacement of the Udt 2 heat exchangers will be performed during the Z2R12 refueling outage as previous. ' rommitted.

In referenced submittal (a), CECO provided implementation or&s for Unit 1 and Unit 0 common systems prior to return to startup from the Unit 1 refue' outage Z1R12. Those commitments included the testing, Unit 0 and thirty seven (3 or inspection, and cleanin or replacement of eighteen (18) heat exchangers on heat exchangers on Unit

1. Of the 18 heat exchangers, eleven (11) have been inspected, and cleaned or replaced. The remaining seven (7) heat exchangers have either been deferred to the 1993 dual unit outage because they could not be effe?.tively isolated during the Unit 1 outage or it is work that can be perfonned during non outage erlods. The non outage heat exchangers will be inspected, and cleaned, or replaced rior to return to startup from Z2R12. Of the thirty-seven (37) heat exchangers identi ed on Unit 1; thirteen were tested, twenty three have been inspected, and cleaned or replaced with one heat exchanger remaining to be inspected.- The remaining heat exchanger is the Service Water pump motor oil cooler and will be inspected and cleaned wit 1 the pump overhaul schedule. This non-outage work is scheduled to be performed between March and June of 1993.
