The overpack is an 18-gauge, MS27683 steel drum with a bolted and seal i, wire clamp closure ring. The drum is filled with molded rubberized j hair to maintain a snug fit. Overall dimensions are 19.5" diameter x lg 15" high. The. radiographic exposure device consists of an ll-Dauge jE carbon steel shell, depleted uranium shielding, Zircalloy "S" tube, polyurethane filler material, source shipping plug and lock assembly. i{k Gross weight of the package is approximately 89 lbs. !,

C. 20555 t gf Transportation Certification Branch Approval Record Model No. 683 Packas ing Docket No. 71-9051 By application dated April 17, 1985, Technical Operations, Incorporated, requested renewal of Certificate of Compliance No. 9053. No changes have been requested or made to the package since approval of Technical Operations' application dated June 16, 1980.
The consolidated application dated June 16, 1980, contained drawings of the radiographic exposure device (Drawing No. 68390) and the shipping container (Drawing No. A68313, Rev. A). These drawings were reviewed and a detennination made that the detailed drawings presently listed (5(a)(3)) in the certificate of compliance could be replaced by the two drawings that are part of the June 16, 1980, application with the exception of Drawing No. C68303, Rev. A, Uranium Shield Assembly. The shield assembly drawing must be retained to provide dimensional infonnation not given on Drawing No. 68390. Condition 5(a)(3) of the certificate of compliance has been revised accordingly.
The staff concludes that the statements of the original application dated June 16, 1980, satisfy the requirement for renewal of the certificate of compliance.
