STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON PROGRESS OF DESIGN CERTIFICATION REVIEW AND IMPLEMENTATION, 9:30 A.M.,

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1992, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff, General Electric, and NUMARC on the status of the design certification review and implementation.

The Commission requested a sample list of the generic and programmatic (discipline) ITAAC requirements prior to the staff forwarding the information in the planned paper on ITAACs.

The staff should ensure that the proposed treatment of PRA information be stated clearly and handled in a consistent manner.

All data and models used in a specific PRA application should be accurately and thoroughly documented.

The staff should evaluate the utility of formulating the inspection program for plant construction and submitting it to the Commission prior to issuing the FDA for the ABWR, It would be useful to understand how the construction inspection program will be implemented when considering the FDA.
