Dear Mr. Margulies:
It has come to my attention that the Hicksville Public Schools -'
have been improperly designated by the Red Cross as part of an evacuar-ion
~
plan for 2400 people in case of a radiological emergency at the Shoreham Nuclear Plant.
t Permission was granted by the Board of Education in 1975 for theplse of our schools by the Red Cross in the event of a natural disaster.
In-cluding our schools without any knowledge to the administration'and th6-Board of Education for such a joint venture with the Shoreham Plant does not meet with our approval. Use of our schools by the Red Cross is hereby withdrawn.
As alwayr, our school district will respond to public need and we will be willing to discuss the needs of our residents at some future time.
