Dear '.fr. Secretary:
1 i '7e wish to state our strong opposition to constructica of the Bailly nuclear plant. A nuclear plant within a few yards of an important steel mill dces not make sense. { Ucr does it make sense within a few miles of other large steel mills and important ] industry. A nuclear plant within a few yards of a growing national park does not make sense. Nor dces it make sense within a few siles of three small cities (and other com-i munities).and not much further frem the big city of Chicago and its suburbs. ) A nuclear plant located where rapid evacu'ation would be impcssible does net maka I sense. At Bailly, evacuation to the ncrth is prevented by the lake - evacuation ) to the west is impossible because of population density. Evacuation to the south and east is hampered by growing populati.on density. No wonder Attarney General Scott of Illinois has said that the Bailly site would { be the wcrst in the nation. No woader mest newspapers in the area are strcngly against the plant. No wonder the Chicago Tribune he.s said "Abandenment of plans to build on the Bailly site could well be beneficeal to all concerned, including NIPSCC. '"e feel confident that ycu will see the great mis'take it would be to build a nuclear plant on the Bailly site. Sincerely Y 79// e C ^ William V. Doyle .h 7 r. lSws-y,W,Y D f

Dear Sir:
We strongly protest the construction of the Bailly site nuclear plant next to tie Indiana Dunes National rakashore. It appears to be the poorest choice fcr a site far any plant built or under ccnstruction under proposed federal guidelires. Abandonment of plans to build a nuclear power plant on the Bailly site appears in the best interests of all concerned, or go to a non-nuclear type plant. This plant, if constructed, would be right in the middle of one of the most populated areas in the nation with chances for contamination greater than those at 'Ihree-Mile Island.
