Dear Commissioners:

In light of the facts that the Trojan Plant is now closed for repairs again and that controversial NRC reports have been re ealed concerning Trojan's safety, it is our opinion that the plant should remain closed until a public adjudicatory hearing be held involving the initiators of the NRC reports, knowledgeable nuclear scientists, PGE and DOE representatives and concerned citizens.

Safety questions as serious as those involving the possibility of nuclear accidents deserve further unbiased investigation.

r' Resolution Adopted By East Side Democratic Club on 12/1/92 Whereas controversial NRC reports have been revealed concerning safety issues at the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant and serious questions have arisen relating to the possibility of nuclear accidentst and Whereas the facility is closed again for repairs: and Whereas these matters involving public safety demand further unbiased investigation, Therefore, De 11 Resolved by the East Side Democratic Club of Multnomah County as follows:

That a request be addressed to the authorities involved that the plaut remain closed until a public adjudicatory hearing be held involving the initiators of the NRC Reports, knowledgeable nuclear scientists, PGE and DOE representatives and concerned citizens.

This resolution was adopted by the membership of this orgamzaiien at its regularly scheduled meeting of December 1,1992.
