Dear Mr. Nellis:
In answer to your inquiry of August 15, 1979, there are approximately-205 uranium' dioxide pellets in each Z.ircaloy fuel rod at TMI-2. The exact number for any individual rod may vary by plus or iginus a few pellets since the fabricated pellet length dimension is not a rigid specification. The 205 value is based on a uniform pellet length of 0.700 inches. Enclosed is a copy of Figure 4.2-2 from the TMI-2 Final l
Safety Analysis Report that shows the fuel rod design. The dirnensions for the various components were provided in our previous letter of
