(Skagit Nuclear Power Project, Units 1 and 2)

Docket Nos. 50-522 and 50-523 Gentlemen Reference is made to our letter of June 29 advising that we were considering postponing presentation of Applicants' evidence on goology/ seismology until a subsequent evidentiary session. The reason for our considering such a postponement is that the Staff /USGS review of our evidence (which we dis-tributed in May and earlier) has not reached the point at which Staff counsel would be in a position to cross examine our wit-nesses during the July 17 session.

As we made clear at the April 24 conference, Applicants are most anxious to do everything within their power to bring about completion of all evidentiary presentations on all LWA issues (and CP issues too) as soon as possible (consistent, of course, with development of a sound record on all issues and Board ccacerns). We would thus be very reluctant to postpone our presentation on geology / seismology.if this were likely to delay completion of the evidentiary record. However, given the fact that Staff counsel would not be able to complete cross examination of our witnesses, thus requiring them to return at a subsequent session, we have concluded that postponing our g o 7

Valentine B. Deale Gustave A. Linenberger Dr. Frank F. Hooper July 6, 1979 Page Two presentation would not delay (and might even expedito) completion of the record. Accordingly, if acceptable to the Board, we would prefer to postpone our geology / seismology presentation until the next session, at which time we trust the Staff and USGS will also be prepared to complete their preser.tations on this subject.

Very truly yours, PERKINS, COIE, STONE, OLSEN s, WILLIAMS g' ?
