Enclosed is a letter from Dennis Kwiatkowski of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) dated October 23, 1992, transmitting to NRC the FEMA Region VI report of the April 29, 1992 emergency exercise at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station. The State of Texas and Matagorda County participated fully in the exercise. A copy of the report will be provided by FEMA to the State of Texas.

The October 23, 1992, FEMA letter identified no deficiencies. There was one Area Requiring Corrective Action identified during this exercise. You are requested to followup with offsite officials on the Area Requiring Corrective Action.

Based on the results of the April 29, 1992, exercise, offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site.
