Operating Units Status Report Your letter of October 29, 1976 to Mr L J Wachter concerning discrepancies in " Operating Unita Status Report" for the Monticello and Prairie Island nuclear plants was transmitted to me for reply. Prairie Island #1 Fby, 1976 Item No. 11 - This month - The Net Electric Energy Generated-is based on fundamental measured quantities and cannot be calculated on the basis.of 'information in the Operating Units.
Status Report. The Energy Value of 218884 as reported is correct. The figure quoted by NIPC must have been derived on the basis of year to date back-calculations. There is an error in Item No. 11 - Year to Date - for the mocths of April through September 1976. The Iten No. 11 - This month figure was reported to the NRC as -3050.
The data printed in the
" Grey Book" uses' a value of zero for April. This was based'
-t upon earlier written guidance from the NRC. Regulatory Guide 1.16 gives directions to use zero in the case of negative energy generation. Therefore, Item No. 11 - year to date -

for the months of April through September 1976 should be corrected by adding 3050 to each entry. This correction will be included in subsequently submitted reports.

January, 1975 The unit shutdown on January 21, 1975 should show a duration of 9.4 hours4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> rather than the 10.4. that was reported.
