Dear Mr Berlinger:

Pacific Northwest Laboratories (PNL) has recently inquired about the status of diesel engine wiring and terminations with regard to TDI Owners Group recommendations for Catawba Nuclear Station, Unit 1 and Shoreham Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1. Specifically, PNL asked if one conductor connected to starting air solenoid ll at Catawba and wiring connected to the crankcase vacuum fans and starting air solenoids at Shoreham had been replaced with qualified wiring per the Phase I Wiring and Teminations Report for each respective site. Inquiries made for both sites yielded the following information:

1. Catawba Nuclear Station - Replacement of the subject wiring has not been performed to date. This modification will be implemented in the near term.
2. Shoreham Nuclear Power Station - Replacement of the subject wiring has been completed.

This information has been communicated verbally to W W Laity of PNL and is confirmed to him in writing by copy of this letter. If you have any questions or comments, please contact D E Broeils at 704-373-7421.

Very truly yours, A P Cobb, Jr., Manager Project Ma agement ivision
