Dear Mr. Denton:

On May 2, 1985, your staff conducted a meteorological site visit. ~ During the visit your staff indicated that the report transmitted as Enclosure A of the referenced letter indicated some anomalies in the delta temperature-readings.- A review of the meteorological tower records-indicates that in April 1984 the delta temperature to be high from .75 to 20F from the bottom to the top of the scale. This in turn resulted in the anomalous data. The previous calibration in November 1983 showed no problems with the delta temperatures. A thorough review of all the calibration. records revealed no problems that would have affected the data used for the licensing of the VEGP as presented'in Section 2.3 of the FSAR.

-As indicated to your staff, we will advise you by mid June-if the first full year of the new tower data will be available for submittal. This will.be based upon.a data _ recovery rate of 90% or greater for a composite wind speed'and direction 10m and delta temperature 60-10m. A comparison will be made between the new tower data with the four years used as the l licensing basis to'further validate the licensing base data.
