NRC letter to TVA dated July 18,1996, " Request for Information Related to Generic issue - 171 - Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2" The above reference requested information to support resolution of Generic issue-171,
" Engineered Safety Feature Failure From a Loss of Offsite Power Following a Loss of Coolant Accident." Sequoyah has evaluated the requested information and has determined that the information is not currently available.
Both scenarios as described in the requested information are not applicable to SON.
I The design of the SON onsite power system prevents the loading of the emergency diesel generators (D/G) onto a live bus. Offsite power supply breakers would be automatically opened and large motor loads are tripped off prior to loading the D/Gs onto the shutdown boards. After loading the D/Gs onto the boards, the required omorgency equipment would be sequenced on using time delay devices.
