Dear Mr. Bowen:
RE: NPDES Permit Special Conditions A.3 Noncompliance NPDES Discharce Permit MD0002399A. State Pemiit 92-DP-0187A On August 5,1996 at 9:10 AM, a sample for fecal coliform analysis was taken from the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Sewage Treatment Plant efDuent to perform the weekly analysis as required by the Site NPDES Permit. On August 9,1996 at 11:35 AM the laboratory reported that the fecal coliform result was 500 MPN/100ml, this exceeds the Daily Maximum Limitation of 400 MPN/100ml.
No impact upon receiving water was observed as a result of this event. The duration of this noncompliance is not known. The cause of this event is unknown and is being investigated. Plant operations were not changed during this period and all other analysis results were normal. The Sewage Trotment Plant records indicate that the cbjorination system was functioning normally.
