24-Hour S.Rqcial Report Gentlemen:

In accordance with Technical Specification 3.7.11.1, Action Statement b, a 24-hour telephone notification was providad to the NRC on October 27, 1992, regarding the inoperability of the fire suppression water system. This

'etter serves as confirmation of the above notification.

On October 26, 1992, from 2034 to 2110, all three fire suppression water -

system high pressure pumps were declared inoperable, although one diesel driven fire pump was capable of starting and running. The motoi driven fire pump was out of service due to scheduled outage maints.ence on its electrical supply bus. The diesel driven fire pump J1 had been declared inoperable for suspected fuel filter clogging. The diesel driv a fire stimp

its packing gland. The diesel driven fire pump #1 was started and operated at narmal rpm auring the 36 minutes that diesel driven fire pump #2 was inoperable. Additionally, the system jockey pump was running, and system pressure was maintained throughout the event.
