By letter dated February 28, 1992, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) requested a change to the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 Technical Specification 3/4.2.4, " Quadrant Power Tilt Ratio." This proposed change would have permitted the substitution of a pair of l
symmetric incore thimbles for one of the eight unique thimbles listed in the technical specification basis for purposes of incore monitoring should i
an excore power range channel fail.
As a result of a telephone conference l
held on September 24, 1992 with the NRC, SNC has decided not to pursue this l
technical specification change.
Therefore, SNC withdraws the proposed l
technical specification change request submitted on February 28, 1992.
In addition, during a telephone conversation with the NRC held on October ?2, 1992, SNC received clarificaticn that when a full core flux map is performed compliance with the peaking factor limits is assured directly without a QPTR calculation.
