Dear Todd:
We are writing in rogards to your cortification dated May 7, 1992 to Iowa Electric Light and Power.
our roccrds show that you sold 10 pieces of an SS-400-3, union tee, to IGNa Electric.
There is a slight possibility that there is a material defect in tho body of the SS-400-3.
The type of defect is called piping or a conterline shrinkago defact.
This is essentially a void in the material.
It is only the body with heat codes EBY that is suopoet.
Wo had identified this defect in the parts and inspected the parts 100 percent before shipping, but wo know now that we were not able to catch all the bad parts.
Pleano notify your cuutomer immediatoly about the potential probicm.
This type of defect, if it is present, would probably cause the fitting body to crack during pull-up.
Therefore it is likely to be noticed during installation or testing.
l Wo will 2oplace any of the unused SS-400-3 EBY's that your customor has.

SS-600-2-6 Heat Code EFY i
Dear Valued Customer:
We are vr'iting in regards to the Swagelok Male Elbott, part number SS-600-2-6.
Our records show that you may have purchased sora of those parts with the Heat Code EPY.
The part can be identified by the letters EPY stamped on the body.
A defect in the raw material that was undetectable har been discovered when the fitting was assembled for service.
The defect causes the fitting body to fail inmediately upon pulling up the nut 1-1/4 turns.
The 20* flare of the fitting body splits longitudially and will leak during system pressurization tests.
When thu nut is removed, the crack is very visible.
Unfortunately, some of these parts were shipped to our customers.
We have recalled all of our world wide inventories of this heat.
Our experience indicates the defect is found upon installation and/or testing of the system.
The number of fittings that have failed is less than 0.11.
If you have any unused inventcry of the part number SS-600 !
