50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - UNITS 1, 2,

ANL 3 INSTALLATION SCHEDULE FOR THE LONG-TERM STABILITY SOLUTION FOR GENERIC LETTER (GL) 94-02 The purpose of this letter is to notify NRC of TVA's revised implementation schedule for the Option III methodology of the advanced digital power range neutron monitoring (PRNM) upgrade using General Electric Nuclear Measurement, Analysis, and Control (NUMAC) equipment, as requested by GL 94-02.

This schedule change is necessary to reflect the delays in this particular options lead plant implementation.

For Unit 2 TVA intends to have the PRNM upgrade with the Option III L11p in the " indicate only" mode installed during the Cycle 10 refueling outage.

Following one cycle of operation for testing, TVA intends to enable the stability trip function prior to startup from the Cycle 11 refueling outage.

For Unit 3, TVA plans to install the NUMAC/PRNM upgrades prior to the restart from Cycle 8 refueling outage and enable the stability trip function prior to startup from the Cycle 9 refueling outage.

As committed by TVA in its September 8, 1994, letter, TVA will notify NRC within 30 days of implementation of the stability long-term sclution.

Unit 1 is in an extended outage, and TVA has no firm l

l installation schedule for Unit 1.

However, TVA intends to implement the long-term stability solution on Unit 1 before restart of that unit.
