OPSEG Pubhc Service Electric and Gas Company P.O. Box 236 Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey 08038-0236 Nuclear Business Unit JUL O 91586 LR-N96190 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 Gentlemen:

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION AMENDMENT NO. 68 HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-354 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-57 The purpose of this letter is correct information provided in a Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) letter, NLR-N94033, dated March 4, 1994.

That letter, referenced in the NRC Safety Evaluation Report for Hope Creek Technical Specification Amendment No. 68, provided information in response to a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Energy (NJDEPE) inquiry regarding License Change Request (LCR) 93-05.

Specifically, that letter stated that:

"The river water temperature monitoring instrumentation at Hope Creek consists of the Control Room Integrated Display System (CRIDS), which provides the operator with updated river water temperature information every 60 seconds, and a strip chart recorder, which provides the operator with a continuous record of station. service water temperature at the service water pump discharge."

The correct description of the river temperature monitoring system is:

"The strip chart recorder provides a continuous record of average river water temperature from temperature elements in the river, while the station service water temperature at the service water pump discharge is updated every 60 seconds in the Control Room Integrated Display System (CRIDS). "
