[External_Sender] No Dumping of Nuclear Waste in Lea County, NM To The Directors of The Nuclear Regulatory Commission and The Department of Energy, Here we are on Earth Day during our World Pandemic of Covid-19 and we are looking at the proposal of transporting thousands of metric tons of high level radioactive waste to be stored in Southeast New Mexico. What is wrong with this picture? We know that this material remains radioactive and dangerous to all forms of life for up to one million years!! I realize that there is no simple solution to such a serious National problem of having up to 100,000 metric tons of this waste having no National permanent repository but dumping it in a poor part of a poor state is NOT an acceptable solution. There needs to be a long range well funded solution that will not endanger all life forms for generations to come.
Please do whats right here to make the safest and longest range picture of safety and health as the priority to human, animal, and plant life. You have a most serious charge to oversee. Please dont be short sighted with your solution.
