A J. M. Farley Nuclear Plant Fitness For Duty Program h.: data generated under the Fitness For Duty program from January 1992 through June 1992 has been reviewed and analyzed. The data reflected in this report is that of employees of the J. M. Farley Nuclear Plant and employees of Southern Nuclear Operating Company Corporate Headquarters.

The random pool contains not only those badged for unescorted access, but also those emplovees who may, in an emergency condition, be called upon to work at the site and may require unescorted access. Contractors without-approved programs are included in the pool while on site. Testing is performed on a nominal weekly basis to include swing shifts, weekends-and holidays at a rate which will equal 100% yearly of the total populatior..-

In summarizing management actions associated with the Fitness For Duty program, it should be emphasized that the incidence of_ confirmed positive tests for the licensee has been low. Consequently, management-actions 3

relative to determination of fitness for duty have been limited to two individuals. Contractor em)loyees screened as positive are denied access and no-further action is ta(en.

x Management actions during this reporting period ' involved two individuals.

The first individual tested positive for the second time under the Fitness Far Duty rule and was thereby terminated from employment. The second individual had accass suspended following a confirmed positive. He was removed from duty and was referred to the Employee Assistance Program.

After full evaluation and rehabilitation, the employee had access restored, was returned to full duties and was entered in the follow-up testing pool.

Effective June 1,1992 the Fitness For Duty -substance panel for urine-was changed to screen exclusively for the NIDA 5. panel _ as outlined in 10 CFR Part 26.

Barbiturates and-benzodiazepines were dropped from the screening and confirmation process. Southern Nuclear had previously informed' the NRC of this change by lettar dated May 6, 1992.
