Dear Chairwoman Jackson,
l According to the Clevelahd Plain Dealer's May 14th article on pg. C1, Centerior Energy Corporation plans to slash 500 jobs from the company. According to a company spokesperson thejcompany has yet to determine where the majority of these jobs cuts will take place. l l
As you know, Centerior Energy Corporation operates both the Davis-Besse and Ferry nuclear power plants lIn Ohio. I am concerned the reduction of maintenance and operation jobs, will create unsafe working conditions and unsafe operations at these facilities. TI}erefore I am requesting the NRC investigate the effect the layoffs may have on the safety of these aging nuclear plants.
