(603) 474-9521 The Northeast Utilities System JM 28 IIIB Docket No. 50-443 NYN-96043 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn.: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Seabrook Station Optical Disk Storage North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (NAESCO) is committed to maintaining " Quality Assurance Records" in accordance with ANSI N45.2.9-1974, " Requirements for Collection, Storage, and Maintenance of Quality Assurance Records for Nuclear Power Plants" To further enhance our Quality Assurance Records Keeping system, NAESCO will begin to use optical disk technology during the latter part of 1996, to supplement the present Nuclear Records Program. This optical disk technology will be implemented in accordance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Generic Letter 88-18, issued October 20,1988.
Implementation of optical disk technology will be phased in on those new documents that are in a format compatible for optical disk storage. The remainder of the new documents, not acceptable for optical disk storage, will be processed using the present methods of maintaining records within the Nuclear Records Program, e.g., microfilm, hard copy, etc. NAESCO has no plans at this time to convert existing stored records to optical disk storage.
