Mr. Thomas T.

Martin, Director Division of Engineering and Technical Programs

Dear Mr. Martin:

INSPECTION NOS. 50-272/84-38 AND 50-311/84-37 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNITS NO. 1 AND 2 In response to your letter of November 20, 1984, we are providing the status of the corrective action discussed in Paragraph 3.0 of the Inspection Report (Items 50-272/84-38-01 and 50-311/84-37-01).

The revamping program f or the storehouse is presently ongoing with twenty-one (21) of the thirty-one (31) material classes to be completed by December 31, 1984.

The completed classes represent 18,333 items or 65% of the total.

The remaining material classes are estimated to be completed by March 31, 1985.

The revised schedule is required as a result of the manpower availability during the outage periods, the availability of shelving material, and the research required to trace material to purchase orders.

Quality Assurance verification of the tagging and storage level for each unique item has been requested for the material classes completed.
