In letter LCV-0788, Vogtle Electric Generating Plant 30-Day Resoonse to NRC Bulletin 96-01 Control Rod Insertion Problems, dated April 4,1996, Georgia Power Company included a commitment to confirm timely complete control rod insertion in the event of a reactor trip. At 0253 on May 25,1996, Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Unit 1 (VEGP-
- 1) tripped, and timely complete control rod insertion was confirmed per normal trip response procedures. The VEGP-1 Cycle 7 core was at a cycle average burnup of i
approximately 1362 MWD /MTU at the.ime of the trip. The highest burnup rodded

assembly had an assembly average burnup of approximately 29,900 MWD /MTU at the time of the trip. Because all control rods inserted fully, and consistent with our commitments in letter LCV-0788, no additional control rod testing was performed.
