Ladies and Gentlemen:
References 1 and 2 provide Braidwood Station commitments to complete required actions associated with Generic Letter (GL) 89-10, " Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valve Testing and Surveillances." Reference 3 provides a summary of the meeting i
that was held at NRR on March 15 and 16,1995, where Comed presented a status of GL 89-10 activities along with justification for various technical positions used at Comed for the GL 89-10 Program.
This letter is being sent, per item m. of GL 89-10, to notify the NRC that actions a.
through h. in GL 89-10 are completed with the exceptions noted below. Therefore, Ilraidwood Station respectfully requests closure of Generie Letter 89-10.
At Ilraidwood Station, all gate and globe valves in the current GL 89-10 valve population have been tested as part of GL 89-10 activities. Since completion of the gate and globe valve testing, liraidwood Station has been focusing on the butterfly valve testing, both static and dynamic. Israidwood Station is on schedule to complete all butterfly valve testing on or ahead of the commitment dates documented in References 1 and 2. At this time,15 butterfly valves remain to be tested. Of these butterfly valves, 7 will also be dynamically tested.
Margin evaluations of the diagnostic data from completed butterfly valve testing to date provides assurance that more than adequate margin exists for the remaining butterfly valves.
