Dear Mr. Denise:

Wis letter provides the Kansas Gas and Electric Company's (KG&E) response to your letter of January 7,1985, which transmitted Inspection Report STN 50-482/84-34. As requested the deviation identified in the Inspection Ibport is being addressed in three parts:

a) Corrective steps which have been taken and the result achieved; b) Corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violation; and c)

We date when full empliance will be achieved.

DEVIATION 482/8434-01:

We licensee committed in NUREG-0881, Supplenent 4, " Safety Evaluation Report Related to the Operation of Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit No.

1," paragraph 13.3.2.8(2), to have in place an agreement to provide regional weather information with a first order (i.e., 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> per day coverage) station of the National Weather Service by June 1984.

In deviation from the above, the NRC inspectors determined as of October 5, 1984, that the aforenentioned agreement had not been implenented.

the Energency Plan revision process. %ey have been added to the energency planning tracking systen to ensure the annual review is accomplished. This review was completed during Jantury 1985, prior to the issuance of Revision 15 of the anergency Plan.

Full compliance was achieved with sulmittal of Revision 15 of the FSAR of which the WCGS Radiological Bnergency Response Plan is part. Reference ININRC 85-013, dated January 14, 1985.

November 15, 1984 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING The National Weather Service Forecast Office at Topeka, Kansas will provide the most current weather and forecast information to the Kansas Gas and Electric Company for Coffey County as requested on a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> basis.

Forecasts will be of a general nature such as is available in Zone 16 which includes Coffey County unless approved and routine observations become available. The National Weather Service Forecast Office may be relieved of its obligations hereunder by giving written notice at least three (3) months prior to proposed termination of service, s
