20059 Re:

Long Island Lighting Company; Shoreham Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1; Docket No. 50-322-OL Gentlemen:

Suffolk County hereby informs the Board and parties that it withdraws the crankshaft contention insofar as it challenges the adequacy of the replacement crankshafts at 3300 KW.

This action is based on calculations which indicate that the crank-shafts comply with the standards of Lloyd's Register, the American Bureau of Shipping and the Diesel Engine Manufacturer's Association at 3300 KW.

We are authorized to state that the State of New York has no objection to the withdrawal of the crankshaft issue to the limited extent described above.

Sincerely, 8501170135 850114 PDR ADOCK 05000322 g
